Hodgson Butyl 66 Glazing Compound
About
A high-quality, hand-applied, non-setting butyl glazing compound designed for bead glazing. Butyl 66 is used either as a sole bedding compound for single glass, or as part of a bead-glazing system for installing sealed units into timber frames — and is also suitable for bedding glass into steel frames. It’s the UK’s best-selling butyl glazing compound, valued for its long-term performance and ease of use.

- Can be overpainted after skin formation — typically after 7–14 days; painting will extend the product’s life

- Skin forms after approximately 4–7 days, depending on thickness, ambient temperature and humidity

- Base technology: butyl rubber and drying/semi-drying oils
- Available in 2kg, 5kg and 10kg tubs
Important — please read before use
- Not suitable for putty fronting.
- Do not use for sealed units or laminated glass on its own — it must be used as part of a bead-glazing system.
- Can cause staining on porous surfaces if they haven’t been pre-sealed.
- Use of Hodgson Timber Sealer on all rebate and bead surfaces is essential to proper performance.
